What are the three default modes?

• 🏔️ Alpine Mode: ultra-conservative – Airplane + Low Power, GPS on, dim brightness, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Hotspot/AirDrop off, Dark Mode, Reduce Motion, Always-On Display off.
• 🏔️ Hiking Mode: balanced – keeps connectivity for streaming (e.g., Spotify) with moderate battery-saving tweaks.
• 🏠 Town Mode: restore – one tap to revert everything back to normal settings. we recommend adjusting this one to fit your needs.

How do I customize brightness, bluetooth, always-on display, etc?

each battery mode (🏔️ Alpine, 🏔️ Hiking, 🏠 Town) can be customized by tapping the [...] more button and editing the shortcut

Will this affect my Apple Watch?

Apple Watch needs bluetooth (and sometimes WiFi) to communicate with your phone. you can edit Alpine Mode to enable these or use Hiking Mode!

Anything I can do manually to improve battery life?

Apple doesn't allow apps to control everything about your phone for security reasons. this is a good thing, but it means some optimizations must be done manually.

Any adjustments I can make to the alpine mode shortcuts to improve battery life?

Here's a list of automatable battery life improvements that we didn't include by default. You can manually add these to your shortcuts!

1. enable greyscale mode

Does this app run in the background?

alpine mode does not run in the background or perform any kind of long-polling

Does this app disable auto-brightness?

auto-brightess will take over after the app changes your brightness. You can also edit the shortcuts to disable brightness changes

How do I make Town Mode match my normal settings?

you can edit Town Mode shortcut to use your preferred settings. after this inital setup it will repeat your wishes every time

Any known issues with Alpine Mode?

iPhone 16 Pro – iOS 26.5 reported by redditor some people's phones will hang when changing the Always On Display setting via Shortcuts. this is not harmful to your device but can be annoying. you may disable this step if you wish.
